Units behind the landing beaches are better than those defending the actual beaches. The 91st Air Landing Division defends your operational area.

German infantry is highly trained, obedient and aggressive. The Normandy defenders contain many veterans of the vicious Eastern Front
Brutal training makes the Germans completely obedient. Their soldiers fear their own commanders more than they do their enemy.
WATCH OUT FOR FALLSCHMIRJAEGER!
German paratroopers - known as “fallschmirjaeger”, or “sky hunters” - are attached to the 91st Air Landing Division.
Fallschmirjaeger have distinct uniforms and weapons from regular infantry - a camouflage smock instead of a grey tunic, a rounder helmet and MP-38 submachine guns.

Fallschmirjaeger are highly trained and aggressive troops.

HOW THE GERMANS FIGHT
The Germans are tactically excellent and good shots. They move stealthily and use cover and concealment when fighting.
The effective Mg42 machine gun is the center of the German infantry squad. They use it to pin pin down their enemy while the rest of the squad maneuvers on top of them.
German troops are very clever with strong camouflage, trickery and deceit skills. They will even disguise themselves as American troops.
At the very least, the Germans to will create diversions to mask their main attack.
Finally, as a general rule, the Germans excel at finding and attacking flanks - the extreme left or right of a friendly position where troops may not be as alert or focused.
Look out for German troops sneaking around your flank!
